Flattop Mountain Has the Best Views
About 10 miles outside of Anchorage, Alaska is Flattop Mountain (there’s nothing flat about it except maybe the parking lot), considered to be one of the most visited peaks in the state. On a clear day, you can see far away Denali and the Aleutian Islands.
Since it was about 10:15 pm in July, and the sun had another hour to go down, it was a beautiful time to be there. The area is covered with beautiful pink/magenta fireweed plants and these rough-hewed fences direct you along the path to the overlook. Peeking through the fence you can see a hazy view of the outskirts of Anchorage and Chickaloon Bay.
